Basil

A sweet, strong, pungent herb, used in Mediterranean cooking as well as Asian cuisine. Basil has been cultivated for over 5,000 years, and is considered the "king of herbs" -- Basil comes from the Greek word meaning "king". Best used fresh, does not keep flavor when dried.

STORE: In a jar on your counter. Fill a jar with cool water, stick sprigs into it, and keep out of direct sunlight. Pick off leaves that will be submerged in water. When stored this way, your herbs should keep fresh for weeks.
