Job opportunities

I AM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2026 FARM SEASON!

I will probably take some time to make a decision this season, but it never hurts to get a head start. This year I will be looking to fill at least 2, potentially 3 full time positions. I will need at least one of them to be from the beginning of April to mid-November, the other(s) could start in late April or May. I'm looking for at least one person with some previous farming experience, and at least one person with no experience who would like to try it out.

I am also looking to hire one person either full time or part time for just two months, mid-June to the beginning of August. This person would primarily be helping us keep on top of weeding and planting during the craziest part of the season. It would ideally be a good student summer job.

Here are some of the things we're looking for:

  • A good work ethic
  • The desire to do physical work outside
  • An interest in providing healthy food to your local community
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • An interest in learning about sustainable farming
  • Common sense and situational awareness

Working at Mud Creek Farm will be a great position for folks who think they might want to be a farmer. If you are new to the field, in one season you will gain experience in all the different aspects of a working farm, including seedling propagation, transplanting and field management, the growing requirements for a very wide variety of vegetables, harvesting, CSA distribution, etc.

If you have some experience in the field and would like to improve upon your skills, including but not limited to: crop planning and rotation, tractor and equipment proficiency, and crew management, I'm happy to mentor the right individual in whatever they need to brush up on. I'm also open to incubating side projects for these folks, if there is something you would like to try out but don't have the infrastructure/time/funds to do on your own. Some examples from previous years are: raising pigs, Thanksgiving turkeys, and broiler chickens.

If you're interested, please email your resume, a letter of interest, and 3 references to ruth@mudcreekfarm.com, and I will be in touch!

Thanks - Farmer Ruth
